UNFI hosted its annual golf fundraiser this week, raising a record $1,075,000 to support the UNFI Foundation’s mission of empowering changemakers to create a more sustainable and equitable food system.
The UNFI Foundation supports innovative non-profit organizations that are focused on climate-smart agriculture, food access and equity, and local food economies. By funding grassroots efforts and scalable solutions, the UNFI Foundation helps build a healthier future for people and the planet.
During the Charity Classic welcome reception, attendees heard first-hand from UNFI Foundation grantees, Land For Good, McAuley Ministries, and Rhode Island Public Health Institute, about their inspiring missions and the profound impact they have on their communities, thanks in part to grants and support from the UNFI Foundation.
Rachel Brice, Land For Good’s program and development manager, shared, “UNFI is one of our consistent and important funders. They really help make sure that we have the resources we need to provide our services to farmers and the farming community at low or no cost.”
At the Lake of Isles golf course in North Stonington, Connecticut, participants connected over a round of golf and took part in exciting competitions throughout the day such as our “Best Happy Gilmore Swing” and “Hole in One” contests.
The event concluded with a celebratory reception dedicated to our generous sponsors, including the Classic’s title sponsors, Kellanova and WK Kellogg Co, where the UNFI Foundation was presented with a check of $1,075,000 to improve access to quality food across North America and protect the planet we share.
“This incredible milestone speaks volumes to our shared values and the very heart of our purpose at UNFI: to deliver better food and create a better future—for our suppliers, our customers, our associates, and of course, the communities we serve,” said Matt Echols, UNFI chief corporate affairs officer and UNFI Foundation chair.
In 2024, the UNFI Foundation awarded more than $1.5 million grants to 63 non-profit organizations across the US and Canada. Learn more about the Foundation and its impact.
