UNFI associates log more than 21,000 hours in fiscal year 2024
At UNFI, one way we help create a better future is empowering our associates to give back to their communities. In Fiscal Year 2024, our associates logged an incredible 21,133 volunteer hours, surpassing our annual goal of 20,000 hours. This achievement reflects the power of coming together to make a difference and our associates’ unwavering commitment to supporting their local communities.
Throughout the year, UNFI associates have undertaken various initiatives to increase access to quality food and contribute to environmental well-being. For instance, volunteers from our Riverside, CA Distribution Center (DC) collaborated with Feeding America. Our Brands+ team arranged food packing shifts for organizations such as Feed My Starving Children, Second Harvest Heartland, and The Good Acre. Additionally, our UNFI Canada team donated over a hundred tons of supplies to food banks.
Meanwhile, associates in Iowa City teamed up with Habitat for Humanity, while others across our DC network organized friendly competitions to see who could log the most hours during Earth Day clean-up efforts. These are just a few of the many acts of service our associates perform each year to help build stronger, healthier communities.
Our 10-year goal, set in 2020, is to reach 200,000 volunteer hours by 2030. With each passing year, our associates continue to rise to the challenge, logging nearly 62,000 hours, demonstrating a strong commitment to their communities. As we look ahead to FY25, we’ve set a new goal of 25,000 volunteer hours, confident that our associates will continue to go above and beyond to help build stronger, healthier communities.
It’s this commitment to getting better every day and creating meaningful change that makes UNFI a place where people come together not just to work, but to make a difference. Every hour volunteered is a testament to the shared values that unite us and guide us toward a brighter, better future.
