Chobani: Leading with Purpose and Expanding Access Along the Way
September 8, 2025 2 minute read
In honor of National Hunger Action Month, we're spotlighting Chobani, our 2025 Circle of Excellence (COE) Impact Supplier of the Year and a company proving that business can be a powerful force for good.
Access for All: Chobani's Mission in Action
For nearly two decades, Chobani has demonstrated that food is more than a product, it's a catalyst for community impact. "Access to good food is a right, not a privilege," said Marcin Moscicki, VP of Sales. Rooted in a set of principles known as DNNA: Delicious, Nutritious, Natural, and Accessible, the brand's commitment to accessibility comes to life through the programs that make a real difference in the communities where Chobani operates.
Their Community Impact Fund has granted nearly $1.8 million to more than 50 nonprofit organizations focused on hunger relief and youth nutrition. Their mobile food hubs deliver fresh and shelf-stable groceries to underserved areas near their manufacturing facilities in upstate New York and Idaho's Magic Valley. And through partnerships with organizations like the American Red Cross, Chobani has donated nearly half a million cartons of shelf-stable Super Milk to support disaster relief efforts nationwide.
They also embed impact into their product lines, including special "Impact Batches" that donate proceeds to organizations such as No Kid Hungry.
Partnering to Expand Reach
Chobani's commitment to accessibility extends beyond philanthropy, it's central to their business strategy. Their longstanding partnership with UNFI, spanning nearly the company's entire 20-year history, enables them to bring nutritious products to diverse communities nationwide.
"We can't achieve the accessibility pillar of our mission without UNFI," said Moscicki. "Whether it's upscale gourmet shops or local Hispanic markets, this partnership allows us to reach thousands of retailers across the country."
That reach recently helped Chobani roll out their new high-protein yogurt line, made with simple ingredients and no added sugar, ensuring broader access to nutritious options.
UNFI COE Impact Supplier of the Year
In recognition of Chobani's continued leadership in community engagement and meaningful impact, UNFI named them our 2025 Circle of Excellence Impact Supplier of the Year, one of the program's highest honors at our recent Holiday and Winter Show in Uncasville, Connecticut.
"We're incredibly honored to be recognized," said Moscicki. "This award affirms that we're doing the right things in the right way, both for our business and the communities we serve."
The recognition is especially meaningful given Chobani’s long-standing connection to UNFI’s events. “UNFI shows are always a highlight for our team because they feel like reunions where we get to reconnect with retailers, share what’s new, and most importantly, listen to what they need from us next.”
As we celebrate National Hunger Action Month this September, UNFI is honored to highlight changemakers like Chobani, whose commitment to making nutritious food more accessible closely aligns with our own purpose to deliver better food and create a better future.
