New Solar Array at UNFI's Moreno Valley Facility
Providence, RI -- May 30, 2013 -- UNFI celebrates the completion of our most recent renewable energy project. We are proud to announce that our new solar panel array is officially live atop UNFI’s distribution center in Moreno Valley, CA.

Our new 1.12 megawatt system contains 4,676 panels and is expected to produce over 1.6 million kWh of clean energy annually. This is the equivalent of saving enough energy to power 146 average U.S. households for one year! Overall, our new system will reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by 525 metric tons each year.

Moreno Valley will be the fourth building in our national distribution network to host a solar panel system, and it will be the second largest array behind the system at Rocklin. It is expected to take approximately 30% of Moreno Valley’s electricity consumption off the grid.

Moving forward, UNFI will continue to invest in projects that combine both business and environmental sense, strengthening our overall commitment to sustainability and our pledge to reduce our carbon footprint.
