UNFI Opens Twin Cities Distribution Center – Designed to Achieve LEED® Gold Certification
Providence, RI -- Apr 20, 2015 -- UNFI has opened a 300,000 square foot distribution center in Prescott, Wisconsin that will serve its Midwest customers.  The facility was designed and constructed using sustainable practices and is expected to achieve LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification.

The distribution center will house operations for both UNFI and Albert’s Organics.  Additionally, it will allow the company to enhance efficiencies, improve productivity through best-in-class warehousing and inventory control systems, lower operating costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.  Features include CO2 refrigeration systems, robust refrigerated cooler and freezer capacity, and increased cold chain integrity.

  • Located closer to our customers, resulting in reduced fuel and carbon emissions
  • Reduced water and energy use
  • 83% of construction waste diverted from landfill
  • Building materials contain 39% recycled content
  • 57% of building materials from regional sources
  • All interior material within VOC limits
  • Over 75% of all wood is FSC certified
The facility is located at 1000 Eagle Ridge Drive, Prescott, Wisconsin.
