UNFI Canada Sharpens Focus on Grocery to Drive Sustainable Growth

As part of our efforts to better align with the evolving needs of our customers and suppliers – and to become a more effective and efficient partner – UNFI Canada is focusing on where we excel most: grocery.

To support this focus, UNFI Canada has sold of its Produce business to the FDP Group, effective December 12, 2025. FDP Group includes Fresh Direct Produce, Emperor Specialty Foods, Island’s West Produce, and Yen Bros. Food Service Ltd. We’re confident in FDP Group’s ability to maintain the service and quality our customers have come to expect from UNFI Produce.

With this shift, we can dedicate more resources and operational space to expanding our grocery capabilities, including further investment in our Richmond Distribution Center to increase capacity and improve service reliability.

These actions strengthen our foundation and set the stage for sustained, long-term growth in the Canadian grocery market.
