UNFI Procures over 25 Million kWh of Renewable Energy

April 27, 2010: World Energy Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ: XWES; TSX:XWE) today announced that it helped UNFI (NASDAQ: UNFI) procure over 25 million kWh of electricity and renewable energy through World Energy Exchange®. The energy will be used in distribution centers in the Northeast and compliments UNFI’s commitment to environmental sustainability initiatives and using Green energy. The energy was purchased in online exchanges through World Energy who streamline the process for buyers, allowing cost savings. Both Tom Dziki, Senior vice President of Sustainable Development for UNFI, and Phil Adams, President of World Energy, expressed appreciation for the transaction. Use of energy from the purchase will reduce carbon emissions by approximately 2,500 metric tons, the equivalent of nearly 5,800 barrels of oil.
