Store Planning and Design

UNFI Store Development Services offers design services deeply rooted in the natural products industry as well as in store operations and merchandising.   In working with you, our goals are to achieve for your store optimum “shoppability”, lower operating costs, and maximization of your investment.

Store Planning and Design is a specific design discipline, requiring specific training and experience.  Most architects and interior designers have little or no experience in planning and designing a food store, and even experienced supermarket store planners often have trouble understanding the differences of natural products retailing.

Discounted design fees:  Our fees for our design services are discounted for UNFI customers.  We see ourselves as a partner to you and your success.  We start by establishing a competitive, market-based fee for each project, then discount it based on how much of your overall store purchases come from UNFI.

Store Equipment Specifications and Purchasing

UNFI Store Development Services has a national program with many manufacturers to give you preferential pricing and support on a wide variety of store equipment. We work with all categories of store equipment (except used and electronic equipment).  This includes shelving, racks, bulk food systems, checkout counters, shopping carts, refrigerated cases, refrigeration systems, backroom equipment and foodservice equipment.

Because of our many years of experience, we know very well store equipment options and applications.  We can help you understand and choose the right equipment for your store.  If you need a type of equipment that is best handled by someone else, we’ll help you as much as we can to locate a good source.
