September 12, 2011: UNFI is proud to announce its sponsorship of the upcoming Right2Know March. This important event is a joint effort of a coalition of organizations, businesses and individuals to raise awareness and pressure Congress to require the labeling of food products which contain Genetically Engineered ingredients. Such ingredients are also termed “Genetically Modified Organisms” or “GMOs”.
The Right2Know March will take place October 1-16 on a 313 mile route from New York City to The White House in Washington DC. The March will champion American’s right to know what is in the food products they purchase and consume, and will raise awareness of the GMO labeling campaign. Along the route, the March will also feature daily events and speakers including Michael Funk, UNFI’s Chairman of the Board.
