    February 3, 2010:  As part of our commitment to a cleaner environment, UNFI Eastern Region joined the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay Transport Partnership.

    Feburary 2, 2010: UNFI is pleased to announce funding of a grant for the Kids Backpack Program, conducted through Feeding America. 

  • UNFI Awarded EPA’S Energy Star Rating

    January 26, 2010: UNFI today announced that its Chesterfield, New Hampshire distribution center has been awarded the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) esteemed ENERGY STAR rating, marking it as one of the most efficient distribution facilities in the nation for superior energy efficiency and environmental protection. ENERGY STAR is a leading national metric for evaluating building energy efficiency.

  • UNFI Opens New Corporate Headquarters in Providence, RI

    January 26, 2010: In keeping with one of our core values, “Social and environmental responsibility for the health of the planet,” the new UNFI corporate headquarters in Providence has been built inside and out with energy savings and low emissions in mind. 

  • UNFI Begins Haitian Relief Outreach Program

    January 22, 2010: Responding to inquiries from UNFI associates all over the country, UNFI has chosen two agencies where associates may contribute money, with matching funds from UNFI, to help the relief effort in Haiti. 

  • UNFI Funds Haitian Water Project

    January 22, 2010: In April, 2009, Michael Funk and Tom Dziki travelled to the Dominican Republic to participate in a vitamin distribution for Vitamin Angels.  While there, a local relief worker shared a story about a nearby Haitian village, Anse a Pitre, where a well project had halted due to lack of funding. Michael and Tom were stunned by the depth of poverty in Anse a Pitre and, after learning about the necessary work remaining, agreed to have UNFI fund the rest of the project. 

  • UNFI Sponsors Local Bounty Photography Exhibit

    January 22, 2010: UNFI is sponsoring a photographic exhibit, Local Bounty, at the Winter Indoor Farmers’ Market located in Pawtucket, RI.  The photographs reflect the role of farmers, fishermen, bakers and chefs in bringing local food to the market and table.  Other pictures depict food at its peak of harvest, the end symbol of unseen efforts for our eating enjoyment.

  • New Texas Distribution Center Planned

    October 28, 2009:  UNFI today announced plans to lease a new 590,000 SF distribution center in Lancaster, Texas. The recently constructed building is strategically located 15 miles south of downtown Dallas at the intersection of Interstates 20 and 35. The facility provides UNFI with an ideal location to support retailers throughout the Southwest including Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arkansas and Louisiana.

  • FY09 Fourth Quarter and Year End Results Announced

    September 9, 2009 UNFI today reported net income for fiscal 2009 increased $10.7 million, or 22.1%, to $59.2 million, or $1.38 per diluted share, from $48.5 million, or $1.13 per diluted share, for fiscal 2008.

    May 8, 2009: It has come to the attention of UNFI management that UNFI checks are being distributed as part of scams involving loans and lottery activity. UNFI and its subsidiaries are not affiliated in any manner with any sort of loan transactions or lottery activity.
