LOCAL BOUNTY

January 2010: UNFI will sponsor the photographic exhibit, Local Bounty, at the Winter Indoor Farmers’ Market located in Pawtucket, RI. The photographs reflect the role of farmers, fishermen, bakers and chefs in bringing local food to the market and table. Other pictures depict food at its peak of harvest, the end symbol of unseen efforts for our eating enjoyment.
UNFI has donated money and photos for the exhibit, which runs through February at the market. The Winter Indoor Farmers’ Market began as a small effort to give local vendors a place to sell product on Saturdays in the colder months. It has expanded in scope to include ready-to-eat foods, music, cooking demonstrations, and over 30 local vendors of produce, meat, seafood, cheeses and much more. Over five hundred people visit the market every Saturday and the exhibit is a new addition to the weekly festivities.
