  • FY11 First Quarter Results Announced

    December 8, 2010: UNFI today announced results of the first quarter of FY2011. Net sales for the first quarter of fiscal 2011 totaled $1.053 billion, an increase of 19.0%, or $168.2 million, over net sales recorded in the first quarter of fiscal 2010 of $884.8 million. This is the first time the Company has achieved over $1 billion in net sales during a quarter.

  • UNFI Acquires Canadian Distribution Group

    May 11, 2010: UNFI today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the Canadian food distribution assets of the SunOpta Distribution Group business ("SDG") of SunOpta Inc. (Nasdaq: STKL, TSX: SOY), for total consideration of approximately CDN $68 million in cash. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close by early June 2010. Upon closing, the SDG business will be operated through a wholly-owned subsidiary of UNFI, and will operate in Canada as UNFI Canada, Inc.  Click here to read the full article

    March 30, 2010:  UNFI has established guidelines for organic suppliers in the event that material changes are made to a product’s organic status.

  • LEED Gold Certification Awarded to UNFI Ridgefield Distribution Center

    February 18, 2009: LEED Gold Certificate for environmental design awarded to UNFI's Ridgefield Distribution Center.  The facility utilizes 100% renewable energy and is the largest refrigerated distribution center to achieve Gold Certification by US Green Building Council.

  • UNFI Opposes Dairy Labeling Regulations

    December 15, 2008: UNFI opposes labeling regulations affecting organic dairy products.  UNFI believes the proposed regulations would prevent truthful production claims concerning the non-use of synthetic growth hormones, toxic pesticides and antibiotics on dairy labels.
